I want to stop watching CNN, but I can't right now. The propaganda machine is very entertaining: especially the "and CNN keeps them honest" part (honest TV media ha!).
I don't understand why all the brilliant people in Washington don't get creative and try something new (does fear keep them paralyzed and unable to move past the comfort zone)?
I also have to wonder what all the corporate loss symbolizes (I don't understand how you lose something you never had ~ but that's another issue)? I believe that it is a sign that the end of the capitalist free market system. Do we really need to manufacture more cars (I'm pretty sure that with the stock on hand we'd be alright for transportation for a long time). And 34 home improvement stores to close: do we really need more leather couches, lamps, rugs, tv's... (Whatever it is, i'm pretty sure we can go a while without making more...What happens to all the consumer goods that aren't sold anyway... probably ends up in a landfill somewhere far away... pay others to keep the mess... avoid responsibility for environmental destruction... call it economic aid and put feather in cap for helping poor underprivledged...OMGoddess).
Except of course food. Here we need to focus. Our food supply is terrible (much of it not really food at all) genetic modification, agribusiness, packed products, convenience food, fast food ~ all of it toxic. Why do people cling to these toxic things?
I don't get it. Humans are smart, creative and adaptable. Has money really become so important that consumption is all that matters? Anyway, what is it about this system that leaves these people unable to see that they have to try something new. It's all been done before and it never worked then. Why would it now? I think it's all pretty greedy and avoids social responsibility all together. To keep on keeping on with business as usual is a crime.
There is so much opportunity for creativity and ingenuity here. We're at a place where we can reinvent the wheel, the light bulb, energy production, the mouse trap. You name it here's the opportunity to improve and we don't necessarily need to consume to do that. It's amazing what you can do with what you've already got.
Perhaps it's time to re-evalute what's really important (I know it's not the bottom line)?
So now I'm going to pray that our light spreads far and wide (particularly on Washington) and people become more important than profits.
Much love and many blessings,
Jodi
