The Buddha taught :

My teaching is not a philosophy. It is the result of direct experience...

My teaching is a means of practice, not something to hold onto or worship.

My teaching is like a raft used to cross the river.

Only a fool would carry the raft around after he had already reached the other shore of liberation

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Truth is by nature self-evident, as soon as you remove the cobwebs of ignorance that surround it, it shines clear.

Drumming In Aquarius

Recently it became clear to me that I needed to sing again ( I haven't been singing much the past couple of years since I haven't been carrying a drum).   Not surprisingly, a couple of days after I set the intent to sing, I was asked to host a drum making workshop at the South Island Dispute Resolution Centre (SIDRC).  I accepted the invitation and when we discussed possible dates "Valentine's Day" came up.  I immediately recognized the association between the heartbeat and the drum and we decided that there was no better day to build drums than the day dedicated to the heart!

I was greatly relieved when all 10 spaces were quickly reserved and delighted to note that there were going to be three mother/daughter pairs at the event! Shortly after we set the date, I was again delighted when I received an email about the Age of Aquarius dawning on Feb 14, 2009.  I made sure all the participants knew too ~ anticipation continued to grow!

The day before the workshop I was informed that Valentine's 2009 was also International Sound Healing Day.

WOW!

I couldn't wait to tell the drum makers: such an auspicious day to be creating these magical drums!

All the planets aligned, hearts beat compassionately and sound healing day!

Who would have thought?

I was so excited that I hardly slept the night of the 13th; drums beat through the night, songs drifted in the wind, spirit soared high!

The event was a great success (despite a bit of frustration and dried out lacing)!  We shared teachings, hugs, tears, laughter and compassion that day.  We all walked away carrying a beautiful drum and the hope of an Age beyond expectation...

The International Centre for Mindful Existence (icMe) Minimize

Hello!   Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to icMe.Be!  I'm Jodi!

I like to live my life as far out of the box as I can manage.  Have you ever tried to fit into one of those boxes?  Way too confining for me! Besides, life outside the box is far more interesting. The things I value (like peace of mind, social equity and environmental health) don't seem to be part of the status-quo. To me what matters is making your own way through life without compromising yourself too much.

I strive to look outside the box, past the writing on the walls toward the authentic Self.  I seek self-awareness and enlightenment in the hope of finding that which lies beyond expectation...

This site is part of my search, thanks for letting me share it with you!

Feel free to email me: rev.jodi.williams@gmail.com should you have any comments.

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.

 What Is Mindfulness? Minimize

So what is Mindfulness anyway?

Mindfulness is the study of consciousness (or reality if you prefer) and there are as many ways to practice as there are practitioners. What i mean by this is that there are many methods used in consciousness studies: relaxation, controlled breathing, yoga, meditation, reiki, chanting, and vibrational healing are just a few of them.

This discipline that challenges each person to find the deepest understanding the Self possible. The lifestyle acknowledges the uniqueness of the individual while recognizing the role the individual plays in the indivisible Oneness of the Universe. It is a quest to experience that which lies beyond expectation. That's why I've chosen the slogan beyond expectation...

A mindful existence allows the practitioner to become aware of what lies beyond physical survival. We learn to find meaning within ourselves and we no longer have the need to be validated by the external (friends, family, belongings etc.). We free ourselves from being that which we think is expected and are able to define success in a way which is unique unto us. This personal freedom comes from the profound perspective shift that occurs when we allow ourselves to experience the Oneness.

Through the practice of mindfulness methods, we are able to silence the mind and in this state of Unity, we learn what it means to transcend the ego. In this transitory state we find our true Self and we are then free to BE beyond expectation...
